Donald F. Flynn, Bus Ad ’61, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 1999.
He is and has been the sole stockholder and chairman of the board of Flynn Enterprises, Inc., a venture capital, hedging and consulting firm based in Chicago Ill., since its inception in March 1992. Mr. Flynn is chairman of the board of LKQ Corporation. LKQ Corp. is the largest nationwide provider of recycled OEM (original equipment manufactured) light vehicle products and related services and the second largest nationwide provider of aftermarket collision replacement products and refurbished wheels.
He was chairman of the board from July 1992 until February 1996 and chief executive officer from July 1992 to May 1995 of Discovery Zone, Inc., an operator and franchiser of family entertainment centers. From 1972 through 1990, he held various positions at Waste Management, Inc., including senior vice president and chief financial officer.
He was one of the original investors in Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. and a director from February 1987 until September 1994 when the company was sold to Viacom Inc.
He is a member of the Marquette University Archbishop Henni Society and has received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Business Administration.
