Rev. Andrew J. Thon, S.J., Vice President, Student AffairsThe Rev. Andrew Thon, S.J., is vice president for student affairs at Marquette University. Reporting to the senior vice president, he is responsible for the Counseling Center, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports, the Offices of Residence Life and Student Development, and the Student Health Service.

Father Thon joined Marquette in 1989 as assistant vice president for student affairs and was associate vice president for student affairs before being named vice president in 1997. He has served as a minister in the all-freshman McCormick Hall since 1990 and previously was assistant vice president for student life at Seattle University and dean of student affairs at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia. Father Thon entered the Society of Jesus in 1960 and was ordained in 1974. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and letters from St. Louis University, a master's degree in education from Marquette, a master's of divinity from Regis College in Toronto and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Wisconsin — Madison.
